SFA Homecoming 2009

This weekend we headed up to our favorite place in Texas....Nacogdoches. It was SFA's homecoming and it is actually my 10th year. Yep, I'm that old. We met up with some friends which makes being up there even better. We got into town on Friday night and I couldn't help but get all emotional when we pull into town. I REALLY LOVE that place. There are so many good memories there and it just makes me happy to be surrounded by all things SFA.

Dear SFA,
I love you.
I miss you.

Love, Me

We met up with our friend Tim and his girlfriend Erin and headed out to La Carretta. Yummy mexican food. Then we were going to go out to the bonfire but gave up on that when we couldn't find a place to park..... plus it was cold :). We decided instead to go meet up with more friends. We turned in pretty early knowing we had a big day ahead of us on Saturday.

Saturday we got up and headed straight to the bookstore(s). We do this everytime we go. You can never have too many SFA shirts. We shopped while we waited for the rest of the group to get into town. Rebecca and RJ got there and got us a spot to hang out and we ran to get some food. Chicken Express...YUM.

Dear Chicken Express,
Please open a store in Clear Lake.
I would really like that a lot.
I promise I would never take you for granted.
I would eat your chicken everyday if you would just move here.

Love, Me

We headed up to the commuter parking lot and hung out and listened to the game. We never went in but we KILLED Sam Houston.

Dear Sam Houston,
You lost 42-3.
I call that a beat down.
HAHAHAHAHAHA.
See you at Reliant next year.

Me

Me, Rebecca, and Natalie
YEA for good friends. Rebecca is now going to Sam Houston and will graduate in December. We're still friends. It's a good thing she didn't wear orange or we may not be :) Just kidding, she was in our wedding so I will always love her anyway.
Terry and me!

Rebecca and RJ

Tim and Erin

I ran back to the bookstore with Natalie and we decided to stop in at Steen Hall on the way back. She and I both lived there.....several years apart. We were curious if it still looked the same.

Dear Steen Hall,
You still smell funny.

Love, Me

Natalie talked the desk assistant into giving us a key to the show room. We went in and it felt so weird. The room has moveable beds now. Back in the day they were attached to the wall. AND they have microwaves. Those were a huge NO NO when I was there.

The second window was my room back in 1997.

The girls!

This is what happens when the boys get a hold of the camera. I shouldn't set it down.

We had so much fun this weekend getting together with everybody. Can't wait to do it again. Hopefully we won't wait a whole year!!!

We were ready to get home to our precious little princess. She was asleep when Mom and Dad got to their house with her so she was out of it. She woke up and I think she was excited to see us. As we were driving out of the neighborhood I turned around to talk to her and she blew me a kiss. CUTEST THING EVER!!! Luckily I had the camera with me and was able to capture the kiss blowing.

Dear Bella,
You are the most precious thing in the world.
I love you all the way to the moon and back.

Love, Mama

Punkin at the Pumpkin Patch

A couple of weeks ago we made a trip over to the pumpkin patch to take some pictures of Bella. Our friends Laura and Craig were working the patch at their church so it was a great opportunity to see them and baby Kenzie. She even made some new friends with Kenzie's cousins. She hasn't spent a whole lot of time around other kids besides her own cousins. Kenzie's cousin Ernest is about 2 months older than Bella and she was following him around everywhere. He kept waving and saying good bye to us and Bella would turn around and wave to us every time he did. It was so cute to see her interacting and copying. She had so much fun running around and getting to see her friend Kenzie. She also had her first real experience on a slide and LOVED it. She was so funny and would just squeal in delight each time her daddy put her up on top to slide down.

Bella and Kenzie

Kenzie would get so excited when we sang "if you're happy and you know it". It was so cute. Bella must have been tired :).

See ya!

She also had her first real experience on a slide and LOVED it. She was so funny and would just squeal in delight each time her daddy put her up on top to slide down.

Oh the joys of being little and experiencing things for the first time.

Friday Night Lights

Last night we headed to Henry Winston Stadium to watch the Friendswood Mustangs take on the Santa Fe Indians. It rained all day but like last weekend in Warrenton we headed out anyway. Once again armed with ponchos and umbrellas. This time there was something much more exciting happening. My "little" cousin Braunsen was suited up and proudly wearing the number 55 on his jersey. His mama, Lesli, was also proudly wearing his jersey with the the number 55. I didn't get a picture of Lesli in that jersey, which I am now kicking myself for, but you could see how excited she was to be wearing it. One of Braunsen's friends had worn it all day at school and she showed up over at Lesli's before the game and said that Braunsen wanted his mama to wear it to the game. So she did....VERY PROUDLY. He has been playing JV this season so it was great that he got pulled up for this game. We are hopeful that he will be able to stay on Varsity AND get some playing time as well. He didn't get any time last night but we stayed till the very end anyway, rain and all. It was actually a very good game considering we lost 29-28 in the last minute of the game. Hate that!!

It's still always fun to head back to my old stomping grounds on a Friday night. I can still sing the fight song and remember the rush of entering the field in my Wranglerette uniform. Our friends Laura and Craig went with us to the game as well. Laura and I were on drill team together and plan on our daughters being W-gals together in the next 16 years. It's so fun to imagine that but at the same time......I'm willing to wait!!

Laura and I trying to stay warm and dry. Did I mention that it was COLD?

Halftime...the crowning of the Queen!

Braunsen is standing in the middle. These pictures aren't great because they were all taken with my iPhone, as have the last 3 posts. My point and shoot needs to be charged and I keep forgetting. Plus I'd rather not get my Rebel or P&S out in the rain. I kept my iPhone dry though.

Lost AND Found

This shoe is VERY lonely. We bought her as a pair. We went out of town and failed to make it back with her sister shoe. I was quite sad as this pair were so cute. What in the world would we do with only one shoe. I was sure that the other would show up but after two whole weeks of looking I began to give up. Then to my surprise, I found the sister shoe here. I couldn't believe my eyes. Hopefully she will be back on Isabella's little foot very soon!

Warrenton - Antiques Weekend

I have been hearing about the Antiques Weekend in Warrenton, Tx for some time now. I have heard about all the really fun old stuff they have there. I finally got to go today!! This morning Mom, Dad, Terry, Bella and I took off to Warrenton to see what the fuss was all about. We knew we could possibly in for some rain but we headed down the road anyway. We were armed with panchos and umbrellas and stayed fairly dry. There was so much to see that it was kinda overwhelming.

Dad bought him a couple of old pocket watches. He loves pocket watches!

One place I HAD to go was the Junk Gypsy booth. I had heard about it from my cousin Tiffany and it was everything I imagined it to be. They had some really fun shirts so of course I had to join in the fun. I might have gotten more than one.....

I even have my very own baby junk gypsy. She is pretty cute!

Here is a better picture of her shirt as she was not cooperating....imagine that!

We had to work on keeping Bella dry because she did not want the umbrella or the pancho over her. Her shoes and bottom of her pants were a little wet but she was REALLY good considering she was in her stroller all day. She finally lost it on the way to the car. Guess we left just in time!! But not before I got my best find of the day....

I could not pass this precious thing up. It was only $20 and looks so cute in her room. I have always wanted something like this and it is perfect!!

By the time we got to the truck the rain had REALLY started to pour on us. But we did not melt. We headed out and decided to go back through Fayetville. I think I want to move there. It was the cutest little town and everything was so neat and clean. We ate dinner there.......

or at least some of us did. Little miss fell asleep right there in the high chair. Poor thing was SO sleepy she couldn't take it any more. Good thing she already had her pj's on. I go out to eat in my pj's all the time.....don't you? :)

Don't worry, we didn't make her sleep in the high chair for too long. After dinner we headed back to Houston. We had a great day even through the rain. We are already making plans for the Spring to make a weekend of it!!! I can't wait!!
