A Conversation with an (almost) 2 year old

"uh-oh"

Bella has begun this amazing habit of waking up at 11pm and deciding she needs to come to bed with us. Last night was no different, Terry and I were still up. We started hearing her moving around and knew what was coming. About 35 seconds later there was screaming. Lots of it. Terry went and got her. She got what she wanted. The conversation that followed is proof that she is in fact a toddler.

Me: Do you want to sleep with Daddy?
Bella: No.
Me: Do you want to sleep with Mommy?
Bella: No.
Me: Do you want to sleep with Gabby (our dog)?
Bella: No.
Me: Do you want to go back to bed?
Bella: No.
Me: Do you want to sleep in between us?
Bella: No.

She then pokes me rather roughly in the eye and laughs. She was asleep in between us within 5 minutes. We clearly need to work on the word "yes".

sometimes they make room for me :)

Poop in the Tub

"poop in the tub
poop in the tub
not sure what to do with the poop in the tub"

{sung to the tune of "pants on the ground"}

I'm guessing that you could probably figure out the fun stuff that happened at bath time tonight.

We had poop in the tub, people, poop in the tub!

Bella was minding her own business, splashing, playing, and generally making a wet mess of the bathroom. I was just hanging out on the floor watching her and pretty much getting soaked. Out of nowhere I notice some poop floating around with her. Somehow she did not notice and kept right on playing. I chuckled to myself, called for Terry (I wasn't getting it out) and reached to pull Bella out of the tub. It was about this time that Bella displayed the most horrifying scream with her whole body tensing up then flailing all over the place. She saw the poop and it scared her to death. I mean she may as well have just spotted one of those scary guys from a horror movie. I started laughing hysterically (because I'm very sensitive when my child is scared) and couldn't do anything with her. She threw herself on the floor because she could not bear to look at the poop. Daddy came to the rescue and got the poop out.......with toilet paper.....cause that doesn't fall apart when you put it in water. I was still laughing, hysterically. Terry cleaned out the tub and there was no way Bella was getting back in there. The thought of that poop was enough to send her over the edge and she wasn't going back in. Terry got it with all his clothes on and squatted down trying to coerce her to come in with him. We finally put her in but there was no way she was sitting down or letting go of her Daddy's shirt. We finally got her all washed up and got her in her pj's and away from the poop. Needless to say, I was entertained.....

I'll refrain from pictures for this post. You probably wouldn't want to see those. Hopefully we will be through with the posts about bodily functions.

Bella + Kolaches = BFF

What you didn't see in this video was before the camera started rolling. I was trying to take the Kolache away and she would adamantly shake her head "no" and point for me to sit back down. She really LOVES kolaches!

The gift that keeps on giving...

When I left you last Saturday, I was blogging in a shirt sprinkled in vomit......true story. Things calmed down around here on Saturday night and we were all able to sleep......not true, Terry slept and I had Bella in the bed with me, she slept, I did not. Every time she moved I thought she was going to cover me with her insides. Thank goodness she did not!

Sunday we were all completely worn out. Terry felt better and Bella blessed us with a day of diarrhea. Two things I learned that are not very fun parental responsibilities (1) teaching a toddler to aim in a bowl while throwing up and (2) making sure you change diarrhea diapers before they leak. So we got through Sunday without any major catastrophes. Niki and Chris came over on their own will. We warned them. Crystal and Donald also came over on their on will. We warned them.

Monday morning we woke and Bella had pink eye. REALLY?!?! SERIOUSLY?!?! Vomit and diarrhea aren't enough?!? Now she had gunk oozing out of her eyes.....yes, both of them. We luckily were able to get that under control quickly.

AND NOW it's mama's turn. I had a nice little stomach ache on Monday morning but thought I could tough it out. Not so much. I never threw up, just had......well, you know. We will leave it at that. So I rested Monday afternoon threw my nausea and well, you know. We all went to bed on Monday night and Bella THREW UP AGAIN in the middle of the night. What gives? Luckily is was just once and that was the last time. {fingers crossed}

We got up on Tuesday morning. I had already to stay home because I was still nauseated and scared to death that the dreaded virus was going get me. When I looked at my phone I had a missed call from a number I did not recognize and a text that said This is Chris. Niki is sick. Needs your help. Sorry to wake you. What?!?! (Side note-Niki has moved back to Clear Lake-So Happy to have my BFF back) So I called her immediately and the dreaded virus got her too. We told her not to get to close to Bella.....she didn't listen. Needless to say when Chris couldn't get ahold of us (he lives in Georgetown) Niki called 911. In true Niki fashion, she called 911 because she thought she was dieing. Even funnier 911 didn't go get her and she called them back. They offered to call her a cab. Only Niki could get a cab offer from 911. At least they called her back the next day to make sure she was still alive :). Terry took her some supplies and she made it through. So next time Bella is sick, she will probably make sure she does not get anywhere near us.

Then later on Tuesday I saw a facebook status from Crystal that said My sweetheart is sick....and he has a fridge full of bullet popsicles to help him feel better. Yep, Donald got it too. We told him not to get to close to Bella. As it turns out she is very irresistible.

(just because I can't post without a picture of the princess)

In other news Bella is cutting her top two eye teeth and it isn't going very well. Poor little boo boo can't catch a break.

Sickies

Wednesday night at about 11 Bella started crying. We laid in bed for a minute to see if she would stop but then she started screaming. I got up to go get her (in the dark). I reached in and quickly realized there was a little gift for me in the form of throw-up. EEEEEEEKKK!!! I yelled to Terry and yanked her out of her regurgitated shoestring french fry infested crib. Terry met me in the bathroom trying to figure out what all of the fuss was about as I was trying to teach Bella how to aim towards the sink. It is possible that I gagged. I won't say if this REALLY happened or not, but it could have. So we stripped her down and put her in the bathtub which I thought would make her happier but I was given a glimpse of myself as a mom of a teenager and found out that I was stupid. She was not happy to be in the tub at all. I went ahead and washed the fries and whatever else she was saving out of her hair, dried her off, put on clean jammies, and proceeded to watch her flail, throw-up and get it everywhere again. No point in another bath.

I got some towels and headed to our bedroom with the sick one and Terry took her bedding to the washing machine. We decided to make a palate on the floor so we began getting that set up. I then realized Bella had thrown up several more times and Terry was nowhere to be found because he was CLEANING up downstairs. We didn't need downstairs to be clean right that minute. Great timing husband o'mine! We got him back under control and he was a champ. I could not have made it through the night without him! We decided that I would stay on the floor with her and let him get some sleep so that we could switch places later. I kept myself busy on the internet so that I would know before Bella when she was going to be sick. Terry would hear the commotion and jump out of bed to help. It is really hard to teach a toddler how to aim in the bucket. She would try to push it away and then want to take a little nap in her vomit. It took both of us to keep her out of the vomit.

At about 4 o'clock in the morning Terry and I switched spots and I enjoyed laying on the soft cozy bed. Luckily that was also the last time she got sick. I called in to work, as did Terry and we stayed home. We all slept until about 10:30 in our bed (we got brave). Terry and Bella got up and I needed 30 more minutes of sleep. I woke up at 12:30 and ran downstairs to check on things. Bella was playing and being more herself but t one point I looked around and listened and asked Terry where Bella was. He didn't know. Poor little thing was passed out on the floor. We were ALL EXHAUSTED. It is possible that I wore a shirt with vomit on it all day. Just saying it's "possible". About 4 pm little miss puked AGAIN. And then AGAIN about 5:30. We thought it was finally over.

We went to bed Thursday night and all went well through the night. Terry and I went to work and Bella spent the day rubbing her germs all over Nana and Papa. She ran some fever but the Dr.'s office said to just watch her. Her feet literally never hit the ground until I got her home and Terry took her and put her down. She played a little then cuddled with us.

We went to bed Friday night and about 1 am I hear Terry making all kinds of racket in our bathroom. The virus got another casualty. Terry was sick ALL night. I took Bella to the guest bedroom but she flipped out and didn't want to be in there so we came downstairs but she didn't like that either so I put her in her bed (novel idea, i know) and she went to sleep. I went back to the guest bedroom and didn't go to sleep until after 3 am. Terry is a VERY LOUD thrower upper. Neat.

Bella woke up about 6:45 and we came downstairs and cuddled on the couch and watched Disney. She ate a great breakfast. She heard Terry vomiting and laughed. Seriously. I called Mom and Dad to tell them we had another casualty only to find out both of them were casualties as well. oops. We hung out and cuddled and played and I began blogging. She fell asleep peacefully on the couch as I tried to be a little witty about our adventures in the stomach virus. Then out of nowhere she wakes up and throws up EVERYWHERE!! It's possible that I freaked out and didn't know what to do first. I threw the computer and jerked her up. Poor baby threw up all over the kitchen floor. Terry came down to see what the ruckus was. I was not being quiet. All I wanted to do was hold Bella and love on her but I had an enormous mess to clean up. I mopped the kitchen floor with bleach and water and Terry brought her over to throw up on my freshly mopped floor. Cleaned that up again. They both rolled around and moaned in the floor. I told Terry to take her upstairs and just sit her in the bathtub and I would be there in a second. When I walked up he was leaning over the side of the tub. I totally thought he had thrown up in the tub with her in it. He didn't. I gave her another bath got her cleaned up and grabbed all the freshly washed towels and brought us back downstairs. I got everything cleaned up. Bella is now asleep on the floor on a towel. Terry is back in bed. Gabby is sequestered to the garage. And I am blogging away with throw up on my shirt.

I'm pretty sure this story isn't over. If I don't get this virus, It'll be a Christmas miracle.

21 months

Well a whole month has gone by and Bella is now 21 months. These days and weeks and months are flying by with this precious little lady. She is continuing to mature at lightning speed and she continues to amaze me daily. She is saying new things everyday and I love to hear her little voice. She says all kinds of fun things.
Bella's Words
  • apple
  • choo choo
  • i see you
  • hi
  • hey
  • bye bye
  • thank you
  • milk
  • outside
  • swing
  • slide
  • shoe
  • see
  • wanna see
  • look
  • i eat
  • play
  • love you
  • corn
  • cheese
  • go
  • WHEEE!
  • yeah!
  • mommy
  • yummy
  • Gabby
  • puppy
  • daddy
  • hello
  • sit
  • sit down
  • two, three (who needs one anyway)
I love to hear her little voice. The way she pronounces some of these things is so cute. All juice is apple and all fruit is apple. She has a favorite book that has a bunch of pictures with the words that match. This is her very favorite thing right now. She carries this book every where with her. She learned choo choo and corn from that book. She also loves Chuggington, a Disney Chanel show. One morning she was watching Chuggington in bed with us and her daddy was turned away from the T.V. She hit him with both her hands and said, "Hey, (pointing to the T.V.) See, Choo Choo!". So cute.
Her personality continues to ooze out of her little body. She is quite friendly. We were at Target last week and she literally said "hi" to every person she saw. It didn't even matter if they weren't looking at her. Then she would yell at them. She also started saying bye bye to them as we walked away. It cracked me up.

She still loves bath time! Sometimes the floor is soaked from her splashing the water so much. Sometimes Mommy and Daddy are soaked from all the splashing. She can just hear the water running and she gets so excited and runs into the bathroom.
She is quite the little builder. She enjoys building with her little people blocks. She can sit there for quite a while just building away.

She goes to bed like such a big girl these days. Just another sign that she is growing up.

Best Friends Forever!

Happy 21 months, Bella Grace!! We love you so much!

20 Months on the 20th

Bella turned 20 months old today. She and Daddy had a little photo shoot. We try to get her to say "cheeeeese" and she says it while she is looking at the pictures, "cheeees-eeee" not real sure why she adds the long "e" sound at the end, but whatever.

In honor of 20 months - 20 Facts about Isabella
1. She enjoys being pantsless........and diaperless. That's right she's a streaker.
2. She has gotten quite the expert at using a fork.
3. Just this morning she said "stupid dog". I have no idea where she could have come up with that.
4. She still doesn't understand "no" and in fact thinks it is the funniest word in any adults vocabulary.
5. She is an expert climber. Like the time we caught her standing on her table. Looking at us and smiling real big. and then she did it again, and again and then Daddy had to hide her chair so she couldn't climb up there anymore. That "no" word didn't work.

6. She is on her 5th night of sleeping without her paci! Bye bye paci.
7. She seems to enjoy Mother's Day Out now. Except naptime. She strongly dislikes that.
8. I asked her the other night if she was ready to go night night and she went straight to her room. She loves her bed now. I love that.
9. She has 12 teeth. She bites real hard with those teeth.
10. She gives Eskimo kisses.

11. She thinks it's funny to try and ride Gabby. I can't tell if Gabby thinks it's funny.
12. She loves to color........on her clothes and walls. The walls at my parent's house. oops.
13. She grins real big when she is in trouble. I think she is trying to manipulate me.
14. When another child or dog has one of "her" toys she says "uh-uh-uh". She obviously understands this better than "no".
15. She is very opinionated.

16. She still loves bathtime. Now she "swims" in the tub and enjoys giving herself a "bubble beard".
17. She is very silly and makes us laugh hard all the time.
18. She enjoys singing into the mic, playing drums, and especially back-up dancing while Terry and I play Band Hero on Wii.
19. She is REALLY cute.
20. She is the funnest, most precious, incredible little girl and I love her all the way to the moon and back!!

(she was OVER the photo shoot and ready for bed)

I love you, Isabella Grace!! You have made our lives 1000 times better in the last 20 months! You are the best baby girl and we couldn't imagine our lives without you.
